Indiana Resources
Disability Networking DayIndianapolis offers students and jobseekers with disabilities the opportunity to spend a day with an Indianapolis area employer to learn more about the employer's organization, to develop lasting professional relationships and to share their skills and talents. Presented annually by the Indianapolis Business Leadership Network, the Indianapolis Private Industry Council, and the City of Indianapolis.
The 2006 event was held on December 4th. The career clusters participants chose amongst included "Arts and Communication," and one of the sponsoring employers was the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. Indiana Employment Service Providers for People with Disabilities
Search TheArcLink database: Select Indiana from the drop down menu. On the Indiana page, click on Provider Search. Next, select Search by Provider Category, then select Community Employment. You can search by zip code for all community employment providers, or specifically for job placement, long-term employment support, or supported employment providers.
Indiana Institute on Disability and Community
Resources on employment and transition issues can be found at the Center on Community Living and Careers. The Center for Disability and Policy Studies sponsors trainings on ADA issues, including employment. The Center for Disability Information and Referral makes informational materials available to Indiana residents. (See inside cover page for more information about the Institute.)
Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation Services
Eligible persons may receive services and assistance for employment-related needs, including support for vocationally-related education. Look under State Government in the blue government pages of the telephone book for the number of your local office, or find regional offices listed on the web site above.

SHARE Network Indiana
A free, online, statewide Resource Directory “created to help Hoosiers find a job, keep a job, or obtain a better job.” Resources include food banks, clothing banks, child care, substance abuse rehabilitation, health services, and many more government and private organizations. Many services in the directory are free, or available at a reduced cost.
Access Points offer trained volunteers to assist the public in using the Network. Located at faith-based and neighborhood organizations, job seekers can look for employment via computers, and receive direct referrals for services such as online job searching or preparing a resume with the help of a trained assistant.
Skills for Job Seekers: Career Collection from INSPIRE
Click on Search INSPIRE Database, then click on Career Collection. Indiana's Online Research Library has 100 free, full-text, online books on job hunting, internships, creating resumes, writing cover letters, interviewing, etc.
National Resources
America's Heroes at WorkA U.S. Department of Labor project that focuses on the employment challenges of returning service members living with Traumatic Brain Injury and/or Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. The site is designed for employers and the workforce development system, providing information and tools they can use to help these veterans.
American Foundation for the Blind's CareerConnect® Program
Click on CareerConnect. Job seekers can explore possible careers, contact a visually impaired mentor for advice, create their own resume online, and more. Available to blind and visually impaired persons of all ages in school, currently working, or seeking employment in any field. Registration is free.

Disability Mentoring Day |
Occurs on the third Wednesday of every October, and implemented throughout the year in the U.S. and internationally. Sponsored by the American Association of People with Disabilities, this initiative promotes career development for students and job-seekers with disabilities through job shadowing and hands-on career exploration.
